Welcome to the City of Bend
Bend is a city in
Deschutes County, Oregon, United States. The name Bend was
derived from Farewell Bend,the
designation used by early pioneers to refer to the location along
the Deschutes River . It is the principal city of the Bend, Oregon
Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bend is located on the edge of
the Cascade Range Ponderosa Pine forest on the west as it transitions
into the Great Basin high desert plateau, characterized by junipers,
sagebrush, bitter-brush, and little water.

Town Hall
The Brooks-Scanlon and the Shevlin-Hixon were the largest
timber mills of their day, making Bend, Oregon a very prosperous
place to live, work and play. The mills have shut down,
but the lifestyle and the vibrant culture remains

Local History
Originally a logging town.
Over 100 years ago pioneers took refuge here. Called Farewell
Bend On January 1905, they nailed up the sign that
says,

Recreation
Bend is a jump-off point for multiple outdoor sports, mountain
biking, fishing, hiking, camping, climbing, white-water
rafting, skiing, and golf. Snow: patchy snow found at 6,000
mostly snow covered ground above 6,500 ft.
